We are delighted to announce that Dr Giorgos Mouratidis (St Andrews) has been appointed as our next Assistant Director. Giorgos will take up his post after Christmas 2022.
Giorgos’ research interests are Greek epigraphy, ancient athletics, ancient gymnasium and education, and the political culture of the Greek city. Most of his research focuses on styles of athletic self-representation in inscriptions of the Hellenistic and Imperial periods. His doctoral thesis and his publications on epigrams (forthcoming) and agonistic inscriptions (2021) explore how different kinds of inscriptions portrayed honorees in different ways, depending on the sociopolitical context.
